Looking for a thoroughly confounding, yet easy-to-do card effect that also uses your business card? Look no further. You introduce a pack of cards and talk about the possibilities of numerology deeply hidden in the deck. As you do this, you remove the number cards from the pack which you will use in your experiment. A spectator is handed this packet of cards and asked to shuffle them well and then cut. You now ribbon spread the cards and ask him to push any two cards away from the rest - one for you and one for himself. This is a completely free choice and if he likes, he may even exchange those cards for two others. As the spectator is doing this, you take a business card from your pocket and place it on the table. With selected cards still face down on the table, you turn over your business card and show there are four simple math equations printed on it. The first of these has a small playing card image to represent the spectator's card. You continue talking about the connection between numbers and our lives, whether or not we possess free will or if our actions, including his a few moments ago, are predestined. As you stare deep into his eyes, you write a digit into each of the four equations. Numbers you say are unique to him and this moment in time. For the first time, he looks at the card he took and using its value completes all four equations. The result is a two-digit number. Let's say, this number is 46. You hold up his card, a Four, and then for the first time turn over yours, and yes, it's a Six! The spectator can now keep your business card as a souvenir and everytime he looks at it, he will be reminded of this inexplicable effect! No switches. No extra cards. No forces - he can take any two cards and it always works! There's about 15 minutes of one-time prep work.
